Kota Kinabalu to celebrate City Day on grander scale

Kota Kinabalu: City Hall will be celebrating its seventh anniversary on a grander scale this year by involving international participants in the celebration on Feb 2.

Mayor Datuk Iliyas Ibrahim, whose tenure was extended for another two years by the State Government recently, said the rationale is to promote tourism as well as cultural integration between the participating countries and Kota Kinabalu.

"It is also City Hall's efforts to complement the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 tourism campaign that was launched by the Government to promote our country and culture to the outside world," he said.

He said this when welcoming international cultural troupes at Jesselton Point, here, Wednesday.

The troupes were from Yongin City of South Korea, City of Rockingham Western Australia, South Africa, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Sarawak, Malacca and Kuala Lumpur.
