Bernama quoted Sarawak’s Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan as saying in Kuching yesterday that Sarawak wanted to emulate the success of Sabah tourism authorities and industry players in its tourism sector.

Masidi added that the potential of the tourism market is growing and big enough not only to be shared by both states but also with Brunei.

“I am open to any suggestion for greater cooperation and welcome any official discussion towards that direction,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Chan who is also the new Sarawak Tourism Minister effective yesterday following a recent cabinet reshuffle, said he is very excited about his new job and hope he could tell a bit more (on future plans) once he has met up and obtained briefings (from local tourism stakeholders) to get some ideas.
